California Supreme Court Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar will serve as the new president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. His last day on the bench will be Oct. 31.

Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye appointed two new advisory (non-voting) members to the Judicial Council. She also reappointed four voting members and two advisory members.

“The council’s mission is to ensure the court system is fair and accessible to all Californians,” said Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye. “While our new and returning members bring their individual and diverse experiences to the council, we make decisions with a statewide perspective. The state judicial branch is indebted to their dedication and service.”

Associate Justice Patricia D. Benke of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, will retire July 31.

Justice Jon B. Streeter of the First Appellate District is appointed to the California Access to Justice Commission for a two-year term starting July 1.
