California Supreme Court Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar will serve as the new president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. His last day on the bench will be Oct. 31.

Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye, chair of the Commission on Judicial Appointments, announced that the commission today confirmed four nominations to the California Courts of Appeal in San Francisco and San Jose. 

The hearings were held virtually for only the second time in the commission's history.

Court also appoints members to Committee of Bar Examiners, which oversees development and administration of the Bar Exam and accredits state law schools.

Chief Justice’s Workgroup on Post-Pandemic Initiatives also finds remote hearings spurred case resolutions in juvenile cases, child support hearings.

Governor Gavin Newsom signed a budget that includes $1.2 billion in new funding for the judicial branch, including restoring $200 million in previous cuts and making major investments in judicial branch programs improving access to justice.
