Nearly half of Americans say they don’t want news from generative artificial intelligence, according to a wide-ranging study from Poynter and the University of Minnesota on how audiences feel about AI. Twenty percent of people say publishers shouldn’t use AI at all.

In a 7-2 ruling, the justices did not decide whether the workers were illegally fired, but agreed with the Trump administration that the organizations that filed the lawsuit — nonprofits impacted by the loss of government services in national parks, agriculture, veterans’ benefits and other fields — had not shown they were directly harmed by the dismissals. As a result, they have not yet demonstrated they have legal standing to sue, the court said.

A handful of California Democratic lawmakers announced legislation Tuesday to allow drivers for rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft — who are classified as independent contractors — to join a union.

(Subscription required) During oral arguments, Justice Goodwin Liu agreed the state labor code’s language is unclear about whether it applies to elected officials. However, these officials “have ways of telling their side of the story,” Liu said, because they have higher profiles and easier access to the public.
