Justice Mosk was the son of Supreme Court of California Associate Justice Stanley Mosk, and had just retired from the Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Five in March. He was 76.

The workgroup, chaired by First District Administrative Presiding Justice Jim Humes, will report back to the Chief Justice by early 2023.

The hearings were held virtually for only the second time in the commission's history.
