Justice Corrigan received the award from the California Judges Association for her work with the Saint Vincent’s Day Home, a West Oakland nonprofit that supports low-income families in need of daycare, preschool, and kindergarten.

Gov. Gavin Newsom and legislative leaders are asking the state Supreme Court to remove a measure from the November 2024 ballot that would require voter approval for any increase in state or local taxes.

California Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero will close Constitution Month with a visit to Fresno County to present the Civic Learning Award of Excellence to Maple Creek Elementary School, restoring a tradition put on hold during the pandemic. During her visit, students, teachers, and district representatives will present the chief justice with details of their ongoing civic learning efforts. 

Saint Vincent’s executive director is quoted as saying that “Justice Corrigan has devoted herself to the organization for over three decades, and her ‘wise counsel and exceptional leadership have ensured that our children and families receive top-notch services and an educational experience that empowers them to break free from the cycle of poverty.’ ”
