    (Subscription required) East Bay attorney Gregory Harper lost his law license after a State Bar Court judge said he failed to show any specific state bar practice or policy was racially discriminatory. Harper’s disbarment was noted in the high court’s weekly conference results report, which, as is usual, offered no explanation for justices’ denial of his petition to reconsider the State Bar Court’s decision.

    (Subscription required) Richard (Dick) J. Burdge Jr. was remembered for his warmth, humility, and devotion to his wife, Presiding Justice Lee Smalley Edmon of the 2nd District Court of Appeal, Division 3 and their daughters. Burdge died Tuesday. He was 74.
