The Supreme Court of California on Monday named members to its Jury Selection Work Group to study changes or new measures to guard against impermissible discrimination in jury selection.
Chief Justice’s Workgroup on Post-Pandemic Initiatives also finds remote hearings spurred case resolutions in juvenile cases, child support hearings.
Strategies include providing court users with remote options at various stages of jury service
Recommendations will include which case types and proceedings could be handled remotely.
Building on technologies adopted during the pandemic, the council will research expansion of remote services in family and juvenile law, traffic infraction cases, and in-custody defendant/attorney communications
The California Supreme Court will use the Zoom for Government service for counsel who choose to appear remotely beginning Dec. 5 for its oral argument session in Los Angeles.
