Fifth District Court of Appeal Engages in Online Community Outreach

Fresno City College business law students will have the opportunity to virtually attend a public live-stream video of oral argument and participate in a question-and-answer session with several of the justices via an online meeting platform.

The Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District is continuing to participate in outreach even during the pandemic. Nearly 100 Fresno City College business law students will virtually attend an outreach event held by the Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District on November 9 and 10.

On November 9, the students will view the public live-stream video of oral argument in three cases:  People v. Hernandez, Klein v. Munger, and Western Ag & Turf, Inc. v. Pacific Plastics, Inc.

On November 10, the students will participate in a question-and-answer session with several of the justices via an online meeting platform. During this session, students can learn the path the justices took to reach the bench, how they prepare for oral arguments, and other insights into the court and the justices’ positions on the court.

The Fifth Appellate District covers nine counties—Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Tuolumne. The court hears appeals from cases that include criminal, civil, family law, juvenile delinquency and dependency, probate and others.
