Chief Justice Honors Martin Hoshino with Award for Exemplary Service and Leadership
California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye on Tuesday honored Judicial Council Administrative Director Martin Hoshino with the Chief Justice Award for Exemplary Service and Leadership, which honors an individual or organization for outstanding service to the judicial branch.
It marks only the seventh time Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye has given the award during her 12-year tenure.
Hoshino has served as administrative director of the Judicial Council since 2014, and has more than 20 years of leadership experience in California state government and more than three decades in public service.
Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye described Hoshino as a “dedicated and talented public servant” who has helped advance "historic change to promote equal access to justice for the people of California"
Hoshino's accomplishments include working to modernize court operations; grow sustainable funding for the judicial branch; equalize funding throughout the state's trial courts; and serving as a national voice to advocate for moving away from court funding based on fines and fees that unfairly target the poor.
