The State Bar of California said in a news release Monday that it will ask the California Supreme Court to adjust test scores for those who took its February bar exam.

When a criminal defendant’s mental competency to stand trial is at issue, their case will get redirected to a handful of courtrooms like Kaye’s. In partnership with L.A. County’s Office of Diversion and Reentry, these mental health courts can also further assess the alleged offenders for treatment and housing placement.

In December 2023, the LA Superior Court CARE Court launched as part of a voluntary statewide court process, where family members, first responders and others can file a petition for someone who is at least 18 years old, experiencing an untreated severe mental health illness like schizophrenia or another psychotic disorder to connect them with treatment options.

Several of the justices suggested a federal appeals court in Washington, DC, erred when it barred the fuel makers’ suit on the theory that market forces are driving the national push toward electric vehicles far more than California’s tough regulations.
