State high court debates whether a union has ‘abandoned’ its members

(Subscription required) The state Supreme Court on Tuesday wrestled with two related cases on whether, after many years, United Farm Worker inactivity in collective bargaining should be considered “abandonment” of the union members — particularly when mandatory mediation is invoked.
