State high court may get dispute over retention of criminal DNA

When California voters passed Proposition 47 two years ago, reducing some low-level felony crimes to misdemeanors, they left a number of questions unanswered. One, which may be heading for the state Supreme Court, is whether the state can hold onto the DNA samples it collected from juveniles once their crime is no longer a felony.
