Special SF court gives military veterans a 2nd chance

Former inmates graduate from the program every month, but Wednesday marked the annual celebration in which all graduates for the year are honored before the upcoming Veterans Day holiday. This year, 33 people have graduated, according to court officials.

Federal judge prohibits ICE detainers in Marion County

In a 36-page order handed down Tuesday evening, U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker issued an injunction that prevents the Sheriff's Office from detaining any person based solely on detention requests from ICE unless there is a warrant or probable cause.

State Bar president urges attorneys to disclose convictions

(Subscription required) The bar has proposed requiring active attorneys to re-submit fingerprints to the state Department of Justice by Dec. 1, 2019, but Colantuono said earlier disclosure of convictions that should have been reported will help the agency in pursuing lawyer discipline where appropriate.
