The Judicial Council's Language Access Plan Implementation Task Force will hold a public meeting on May 20 at the Judicial Council Conference Center in San Francisco to listen to community members and discuss task force efforts to increase language access to the courts for limited English proficient court users.

Meeting topics include:

  • Progress update on implementation of the Language Access Plan (LAP)

  • Current language access services in the trial courts

  • A translation protocol and action plan that identifies and prioritizes documents for translation

  • A benchcard on working with interpreters in the courtroom, and training curricula for bench officers and court staff

  • Video Remote Interpreting Pilot Project

  • Efforts by the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal to review and address appropriate LAP recommendations

The meeting will be open to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., and again from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Public comment is scheduled from 12:20 a.m. to 12:50 a.m.
