SAN DIEGO—Three 30-minute public hearings have been scheduled by the Commission on Judicial Appointments for Thursday, February 9, 2017, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in San Diego, California, to consider three appointments by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr., to the California Courts of Appeal.
Gov. Jerry Brown Friday named 22 lawyers and court commissioners to superior court vacancies, including six to the Los Angeles Superior Court. He also nominated three superior court judges for elevation to Divs. One and Two of the Fourth District Court of Appeal, and to the Fifth District Court of Appeal.
The Supreme Court of California appointed Attorneys Mark A. Broughton and Alan K. Steinbrecher to the State Bar Board of Trustees for three-year terms, beginning October 2, 2016 and ending at the conclusion of the annual board meeting in 2019.
The California Supreme Court appointed Judge William Kearse McGill to the position of State Bar Court Review Judge and Attorney Cynthia V. Dixon to the position of State Bar Hearing Judge (Los Angeles).
SAN FRANCISCO—Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye has appointed two new advisory members and reappointed another advisory member to the Judicial Council of California, the policy-making body of the judicial branch.
