Governor Names 22 to Superior Courts, Six in Los Angeles

Gov. Jerry Brown Friday named 22 lawyers and court commissioners to superior court vacancies, including six to the Los Angeles Superior Court. He also nominated three superior court judges for elevation to Divs. One and Two of the Fourth District Court of Appeal, and to the Fifth District Court of Appeal.

New Jersey Banking On Shift From Bail Money To Risk Assessment

Mustafa Willis has seen the bail process in New Jersey up close. Willis was arrested in Newark in 2010 for unlawful possession of a firearm. The charges were later dropped. But he spent three months in jail before his family could scrape together $3,000 to bail him out.
